A call to tumblr equestrian action for the benefit of the OSU polo team.
The polo team is almost in first place to win $1,000 for their horses, but they need more “Likes” in order to win. Could you take a few seconds to vote? All you have to do is: Click on this link. Like ‘the union’. Scroll down to Oregon State Polo’s post on how they would spend the money and then “like” it. You don’t have to do anything else besides liking that post.

“The Oregon State Polo club is the oldest sport club on campus. We currently own seven horses and lease two. We have recently moved to a new home where we can grow and prosper as a team. Ideally we would have a full two strings of horses, a total of 14. As a sport club we train hard and set our sights high for regional championships, but as a horse club our utmost concern is the health and happiness of our horses. Our equipment is hand-me-down, worn, and costly to replace. On top of dues, members personally pay for all travel expenses, a fact that hinders full participation and enjoyment by all members. As much as our members might appreciate putting the money towards travel, realistically we must give it all to the ponies. We would use the $1,000 to buy ten new full sets of standing wraps, find a better fitting saddle or two, restock our vet kit, and pay outstanding vet bills. Any money remaining would be placed into our emergency horse care fund.”

Signal boost! Having been involved with collegiate polo, I know how difficult it is to keep a club running. The last I heard there is no additional funding from the sport’s governing body to cover horse expenses. There are funds for tack and equipment, but not for the horses - this needs to change because the welfare of the ponies is the most important thing and I hope such funds become available in the future (and on a yearly basis too). In the mean time, though, let’s help them out!

THIS ENDS AT 5PM TODAY PST. We are in the lead, but more votes would be amazing! The competition is tricky. COME ON TUMBLR HORSE PEOPLE WE CAN DO IT

ibetmittromney:

I bet Mitt Romney hears about dog bites and thinks that a pit bull MUST have done it, and probably doesn’t know the difference between an American Pit Bull Terrier and a ‘pit bull type’.

In case you didn’t know, I love animals more than people most of the time. There is a red Siberian Husky with bi colored eyes at the local animal shelter - btw the shelter two years ago made national news for killing every animal (80+) in the shelter one night - and it’s time is almost up. I have…

3llenography:

So this dog is up for adoption in a shelter really close to my house, and I absolutely adore him. When you walk up to his kennel he doesn’t bark, he just tries to lick you and paw at you though the door and he smiles really big but is just super calm. He’s almost like a hipster dog he’ll just sit there like: “Hi, yeah I’m Jett, the beagle/retriever mix. Barking is to mainstream.” But at the same time he’s a dog, so he’s wagging his tail and looking all over and you can tell on the inside he’s all “PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE TAKE ME HOME AND LOVE ME FOREVER! I’M A REALLY GOOD DOG I PROMISE!”Plus he’s basically the best looking dog ever.So this is an appreciation post, since I am unable to adopt him I hope he goes to a really really super good home.<3
